Brother Industries Philippines completes third factory in FPIP
On February 2, 2024, Brother Industries (Philippines) Inc. unveiled their third manufacturing factory at First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) in Batangas.
Brother Industries (Philippines) Inc., which has been operating in the country since 2012, is a subsidiary of Japanese multinational company Brother Industries, Ltd., a leading manufacturer of printers, labeling systems, sewing machines and other office equipment. Their Batangas plant is one of their 16 manufacturing sites worldwide.
The expansion facility, which broke ground in 2022, was intended to address their recent business expansion and meet the growing demands for their products. It includes a space that will increase their manufacturing capacity and a warehouse for parts and products that will enable them to prepare for any risks in logistics operations.
As part of its efforts to incorporate green energy in its operations, Brother installed solar panels on the roof of their new facility, allowing them to partly use renewable energy in their operations. This is aligned with the Brother Group Environmental Vision 2050, which aims to contribute to achieve carbon neutrality across all business operations.
Attending the unveiling of the new facility was Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual, who, during his speech, acknowledged Brother’s contributions to the Philippines’ manufacturing sector in the past 12 years.
“As one of the PEZA locators, Brother Industries Philippines plays a vital role in firmly positioning the Philippines as a premier investment destination. Furthermore, the expansion of Brother Industries Philippines marks another milestone toward producing more high-caliber and globally competitive printer products and consumables. This further exemplifies the company’s dedication to delivering technological and sustainable solutions for the constantly evolving manufacturing and printing industry in the world.”
FPIP Chief Commercial Officer Joval Pantangco backed the DTI chief and expressed its support for Brother. “The FPIP community congratulates Brother Philippines on their recent expansion. We have been their proud partner for the past 12 years, sharing the same goal of elevating industry, community and even the environment. We believe that our strong partnership has created a significant and positive impact on the lives of more Filipinos.”
“We are truly honored that FPIP was chosen as their expansion site,” Pantangco said. “This helps advance the Philippine economy and provides Filipinos with 3,000 new employment opportunities. But more importantly, it is a nod to the talent and dedication of the Filipino workforce.”
At present, Brother Philippines employs around 7,000 Filipino workers.
FPIP is a PEZA-registered ecozone in Batangas, with over 150 world-class locators and over 70,000 employees. Established in 1996 by Lopez-led First Philippine Holdings (FPH) and Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corporation, it endeavors to attract world-class locators and help advance the economy and uplift the lives of Filipinos by generating quality jobs.
