FPIP’s Water Arm Supports LLDA’s New Initiative to Protect Laguna de Bay Watersheds
FPIP Utilities, Incorporated (FUI) has extended its support to the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) as it launched its latest initiative, Abot-Kamay Para sa Laguna de Bay: Mission in Action – Solid Waste Recovery, on February 21, 2025, at Abra Ilog, Poblacion 1, Santo Tomas, Batangas.
This initiative is a continuation of LLDA’s efforts to clean the lake’s surroundings and improve the water quality. It has similar initiatives implemented in Rizal, Laguna, Pasig, and Muntinlupa. The launch aims to strengthen solid waste management activities in the area, offering a more comprehensive approach to waste recovery.
In his message of support, FUI Regulatory Compliance and Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Lead and San Juan Sub-Basin Watershed Management Council Chairman (SJWMC) Mr. Edwin De Chavez shared his enthusiasm for the project. He also highlighted how it can bring local government units (LGUs), private organizations, and communities together to ensure the protection and preservation of Laguna de Bay.
While offering support from FUI, he also called on the attendees to support LLDA by volunteering, creating awareness campaigns, and adopting sustainable practices to reduce one’s environmental footprints.
FUI, the water arm of FPIP, offers a complete range of sustainable and reliable water solutions to over 150 locators, including water and waste water services, laboratory testing, and environmental consultancy. In 2024, FUI partnered with LLDA through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the Adopt-an-Estero/Water Body Program, which aims to help protect a portion of the San Juan River.
In July 2023, Mr. de Chavez was elected chairperson of the San Juan Sub-Basin Watershed Management Council Chairman (SJWMC), overseeing the protection and sustainable development of the San Juan Sub–Basin that covers 123 barangays across Laguna, Batangas, and Cavite.
