First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) hosts PEZA Board Meeting
On April 19, 2024, First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) welcomed the esteemed board members of Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) for their board meeting held at FPIP.
FPIP is a Lopez-led ecozone with top-notch facilities located in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. It is the manufacturing hub-of-choice for over 150 world-class locators, including Brother Industries (Philippines), Inc., Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc., First Philec, Nestle Philippines, Inc, and soon-to-open Dyson.
Led by FPIP Chief Commercial Officer Jose Valentin “Joval” Pantangco, FPIP took this opportunity to highlight how the park and its locators are contributing towards building the country’s manufacturing industry.
PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga, PEZA board members from the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of Finance (DOF), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and PEZA Management Officials were given a glimpse of the industrial park as well as the manufacturing facilities of Collins Aerospace (Philippines) and Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc. (PMCMI).
Collins Aerospace is a world leader in aviation and high-integrity solutions to commercial and military customers around the world. Its Batangas plant, which manufactures cabin interiors like aircraft seating and galleys, has been achieving milestone after milestone. Just recently, it delivered Philippine-made Meridian main cabin seats to Airbus, enabling airline passengers to have a more comfortable flying experience. As a result, it plans to expand its operations in the country, possibly adding 300,000 square feet in its current manufacturing complex.
PMCMI, on the other hand, is the local unit of Japan-based electronics giant Murata Manufacturing Ltd. As the largest production site in Asia of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC), it has an ongoing expansion in its facility, anticipating the increasing demands for emerging technologies, such as 6G communications technology and electrification of cars.
Mr. Pantangco underscored the importance of this event to FPIP. “FPIP was initially established as a response to the government’s call to catalyze industrial growth. 28 years later, we continue to work together with the government, PEZA and other promotion agencies to make the Philippines the top choice for investments by foreign investors.”
“Having the same goals as PEZA, we are driven to continuously elevate industry and communities, while giving precedence to protecting our natural resources through regeneration and decarbonization. We believe that boosting economic opportunities for the country does not just provide quality employment opportunities to more Filipinos. It also allows us to showcase Filipino talent to the world just like what our current locators are doing today,” he added.
During the board meeting, PEZA through DG Panga greenlighted 73 new and expansion projects, which will generate Php 29.955 billion investments, and create nearly 15,000 direct employment opportunities for the Filipino workforce and $1,094.65 million in exports.
