FPIP, 12 Locators Among Top Tax and Job Contributors in Santo Tomas

Lopez-controlled First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and 12 of its locators were recognized by the local government unit (LGU) of Santo Tomas City in Batangas province is among the city’s biggest contributors to revenue and employment in 2024.

Combined, FPIP and its locators contributed Php159 million in taxes, making up 17% of the City of Santo Tomas’s income is Php935 million for the year.

“We are honored to be part of St. Tomas’ growth,” said Ricky Carandang, head of FPIP’s External Affairs and Marketing, during the Taxpayers’ Day held on September 1, 2025 at FPIP’s Consuelo Park Pavilion. “We are happy that our contributions have been helping the local government deliver fast and efficient public services and jobs to Tomasinos.”

The revenues and new jobs support Mayor Atty. Arth Jhun “AJAM” Marasigan’s 12-point development agenda, which includes quality healthcare and education, stronger job and investment opportunities, a vibrant tourism sector, environmental protection, and improved access to public services.

Under the Real Property Tax (RPT) category, FPIP and nine of its locators ranked among the city’s top 20 taxpayers. Dyson Philippines, a global tech giant known for its cutting-edge vacuum cleaners, hair care devices, and other home appliances, topped the list. Also in the top ranks were Ibiden Philippines, Inc. (4th), FPIP (7th), Nippon Premium Bakery Inc. (8th), YKK Philippines, Inc. (12th), First Batangas Hotel (18th), and Energy Development Corporation (20th).

Amcor Flexible Philippines Corp., a leading producer of sustainable packaging for various products, stood out for being in both tax categories, wherein it placed 4th in RPT and 5th in business tax.

Two other FPIP-based companies also landed among the city’s top business taxpayers – pneumatic control equipment manufacturer Shoketsu SMC Corporation in 10th and logistics company Nippon Express Philippine Corporation in 18th.

Aside from revenue contributions, FPIP and its locators were among the biggest sources of employment opportunities last year. According to the local government, companies inside FPIP were responsible for 60% of the nearly 12,500 job openings last year. Nexem - EMD Technologies took the top spot, while Philippine Manufacturing Company of Murata Incorporated placed in third, and Brother Industry Philippines Incorporated came in fifth.

“We deeply value the strong commitment of FPIP and its locators to Santo Tomas. Their contributions have helped us drive economic progress, enabling us to create meaningful opportunities and provide better support to the Tomasinos who call it home,” said Vice Mayor Catherine “Cathy” Jaurigue-Perez.

Established as a joint venture between First Philippine Holdings Corporation (FPH) and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, FPIP has grown into one of the country’s leading economic zones. The 600-hectare PEZA-registered ecozone is home to over 150 world-class manufacturers and continues to serve as a platform for creating thousands of high-value jobs for Filipinos.
