FPIP Cited by Sto. Tomas Mayor as a Key Driver of Growth

First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) was recognized as a major driver behind the City of Sto. Tomas’ continued progress by the Mayor Atty. Arth Jhun “AJAM” Marasigan during his third State of the City Address (SOCA) on August 15, 2025 at SM City Sto. Tomas.

Mayor Marasigan underscored FPIP’s significant contribution to the city’s economic development. He cited FPIP and its locators as strategic partners in advancing the city’s 12-point agenda, which includes attracting quality investments, generating jobs for the community, and improving traffic management.

In 2024 alone, the City of Sto. Tomas welcomed a total of Php7.23 billion in total investments, with Php6.5 billion coming from Dyson Philippines, one of FPIP’s newest and most prominent locators. Dyson’s entry not only enhances the FPIP’s roster of over 150 global industry leaders, but also strengthens its status as a premier destination for high-value manufacturing.

The city’s thriving economy is also reflected in its tax collections, which rose by 8.7% compared to the previous year, achieving a remarkable Php336 million. Among the top taxpayers are two FPIP locators, namely Amcor Flexibles Philippines and Shoketsu SMC Corporation.

FPIP’s impact extends into the lives of Sto. Tomas residents, as it provided 60% of the employment opportunities to nearly 12,500 job seekers last year. With opportunities across manufacturing industries like electronics, packaging, automotive, aerospace, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical products, FPIP plays a role in supporting livelihoods and empowering families.

Addressing the city’s growing traffic concerns, FPIP has also partnered with the local government to improve traffic conditions and ease congestion. By deploying a technical consultant, FPIP helped assess traffic flow along the busy stretch from Calamba to SM Sto. Tomas corridor. The assessment now serves as a foundation for data-driven planning and congestion mitigation efforts.

Additionally, FPIP organized a four-day capacity-building program for 70 local traffic enforcers, equipping them with proper knowledge and skills in traffic management, enforcement protocols, and road safety.

Moving forward, FPIP will continue to work hand in hand with the City of Sto. Tomas government to continue contributing to growth and help build a thriving, resilient community for both present and future generations.

Established in 1996, FPIP is the leading industrial park in the Philippines. A joint venture between Lopez-led First Philippine Holdings (FPH) and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, its 600-hectare PEZA registered ecozone in Batangas is home to over 150 global manufacturers and nearly 80,000 employees.
