FPIP Strengthens Industrial Base with Japan’s Ubukata

Japan-based Ubukata Philippine Electric Corporation signed a lease agreement with First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) on January 7, 2026, to establish an export-oriented manufacturing facility in Batangas. The signing followed the company’s successful registration with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

Backed by a PHP 258-million investment, Ubukata’s new facility will operate from a 2,016-square-meter ready-built space within FPIP and manufacture products for export to China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, and markets across Europe and Southeast Asia.

Set to begin operations in August 2026, the facility will specialize in safety switches for air conditioner compressors. These switches are designed to detect abnormal pressure and automatically cut off power to prevent motor damage and potential accidents.

“FPIP was our only choice for establishing a manufacturing facility in the Philippines,” said Ubukata, “We look forward to launching our operations and supplying our export markets from here.”

The signing ceremony was attended by FPIP Senior Vice President for Industrial Business Group Yutaro Kuryu and Vice President for Corporate Planning and Sustainability - Manuel Lizardo, Jr., together with Ubukata President Shinnosuke Ubukata, and Vice President - Tomohiro Yamada.

“We are delighted to welcome Ubukata to FPIP,” said Lizardo, “Our goal is to attract companies looking to expand in the Philippines. With their decision to expand in FPIP, it strengthens our role as a hub for high-value, export-oriented manufacturing.”

Kuryu added, “We are proud to provide a home for businesses like Ubukata. Their presence in FPIP will create employment opportunities for the residents of Sto. Tomas, Tanauan, and other nearby communities, while driving innovation and boosting Batangas’s position in global supply chains.”

FPIP is a joint venture between local conglomerate First Philippine Holdings (FPH) and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation. The nearly 600-hectare industrial space hosts 150 world-class locators across industries, such as electronics, motor vehicle components, aerospace, medical devices, and consumer goods.
